Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 27, 2026
Scribe is a Bible app from Xuan Tung ("we", "us"). You read the Bible one verse at a time, compare translations, save verses, write notes, learn verses by heart with Remember, and open AI-written studies of a verse with Deep study. This policy tells you what data we collect, why we collect it, who receives it, how long we keep it, and what choices you have.
Summary
- Scribe has no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
- Your reading, saved verses, notes, and Remember progress stay on your device.
- A Deep study sends only the verse reference and the study type to our server.
- We collect device data, usage data, and purchase data to run the app, to understand how people use it, and to measure our ads.
- We use the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Data that stays on your device
Scribe saves this data on your device only:
- Your place in the Bible, your translation, text size, and appearance.
- Saved verses and your notes.
- Remember progress, such as stars, practice sessions, and the days you opened the app.
- Studies that you opened, so they open again without the network.
- Your reminder choices and your onboarding progress.
We cannot see this data. Your notes and saved verses are not sent anywhere.
Data we collect
We do not collect data that you type. The app and our service providers collect these categories of data:
- Identifiers. Device and app identifiers, such as the identifier for vendor (IDFV), an app instance ID, an install ID, and an anonymous customer ID for your subscription. The IDFA, only if you allow tracking.
- Usage data. How you use the app, for example app opens, sessions, finishing onboarding, and seeing the subscription screen. We do not collect what you read, your notes, or study content.
- Device data. Device model, iOS version, language, and app version.
- Approximate location. Country, region, and city, estimated from your IP address. We do not collect your precise location.
- Purchase data. Your subscription history from Apple, such as product, price, dates, trial, renewal, and cancellation. Apple processes all payments. We never receive your payment card or Apple ID details.
- Ad data. Information about the ad that brought you to Scribe, if there was one.
- Request data. When the app contacts a server, the server receives your IP address and basic request data, such as the time.
How we use data
- To give you the app, Deep study, and your subscription, and to restore your subscription.
- To understand how people use the app, so that we can fix problems and make it better.
- To measure which ads bring people to Scribe and which ads bring subscribers.
- To keep the service safe and to find and fix errors.
- To obey the law.
Deep study
When you open a study, Scribe sends the verse reference (for example, John 3:16) and the study type to our server. The server uses an AI service to write the study, then saves it for every reader. The request to the AI service contains only the verse reference, the verse text, and our instructions. It contains no data about you. Saved studies contain no data about you.
Compare translations works on the device and sends nothing.
Tracking and the advertising identifier
iOS asks if Scribe may track you. If you allow it, our ad measurement and subscription providers can use the IDFA. We also let our analytics provider use the data for ad measurement.
If you do not allow tracking, we do not use the IDFA. We still collect the data in "Data we collect", without the IDFA, to run the app, to understand how people use it, and to measure our ads without the IDFA. We tell our analytics provider not to use this data for ads. Every feature of Scribe works the same.
You can change your answer at any time in iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Scribe checks your answer again each time it opens.
How we share data
- Service providers. Companies that help us run Scribe receive data only to do work for us. They give us analytics, ad measurement, subscription management, servers, and AI writing for studies.
- Ad networks. Our ad measurement provider can share ad-measurement data with the ad networks where we buy ads, such as Meta, so that they can report the results of our ads. Scribe does not include ad network SDKs and does not show ads.
- The law. We can share data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of users.
We do not sell your personal information. If you allow tracking, data shared with ad networks to measure ads can count as "sharing" under some laws, such as California law. To stop it, turn off tracking in iPhone Settings.
Notifications, photos, and sharing
Scribe uses local notifications only. The app makes reminders on your device and does not send your reminder times to a server. You can turn them off in iPhone Settings or in Scribe's Settings.
When you share a verse, Scribe makes a picture on your device. The picture goes only to the app you choose. Scribe asks for permission before it adds a picture to your photos. Scribe does not read your photos.
How long we keep data
- Data on your device stays until you delete the app.
- Server request logs are kept for about 30 days.
- Saved studies contain no personal data and are kept while the service runs.
- Our service providers keep other data for the time that their policies and our account settings set. When we no longer need the data, we ask them to delete it.
Your choices and how to delete your data
- To delete all data on your device, delete Scribe. Settings › Start over deletes your reading place, Remember progress, and settings, but keeps saved verses, notes, and studies.
- To stop the use of the IDFA, turn off tracking in iPhone Settings.
- To delete data that our service providers hold about your device, email thanhtoong97@icloud.com. If you can, send the email before you delete the app. Tell us the date you installed Scribe and, if you subscribed, the date of your purchase. We will ask each provider to delete the data and reply within 30 days.
- To cancel a subscription, see the Terms of Use.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, the UK, or California), you can ask us to give you, correct, or delete your personal data, or to stop or limit our use of it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Email us to use these rights. We will not treat you differently because you use them.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we use your data to provide the service you ask for, for our legitimate interest in running, improving, and measuring Scribe, and with your consent for tracking.
Children
Scribe is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you think that a child gave us data, email us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our service providers can process data in the United States and other countries. These countries can have data protection laws that are different from the laws where you live.
